Absolutely! Your best option is to see a doctor at a walk-in clinic. Doctr’s care coordination service can also arrange an appointment for you at a walk-in clinic. It’s also a good idea to register with the Quebec Family Doctor Finder to be assigned a family doctor and avoid always going to a walk-in clinic.
If your RAMQ card is lost or expired, you can obtain proof of eligibility from RAMQ by calling 1 800 561-9749 so you can see a doctor at a walk-in clinic.
Non-RAMQ and non-eligible residents will have to pay a fee for consultation in a walk-in clinic or emergency room. Consult the Expat program to book an appointment without a RAMQ Card.
Most private insurance and healthcare spending account will cover the yearly plan. Chat with a supervisor if your invoice gets rejected.
The waiting time for a consultation in a walk-in clinic is 1 to 2 days if you’re in a major city. In the regions, it may take several days to obtain a consultation due to the limited number of walk-in clinic spaces. Doctr’s care coordination service can book you an appointment at a walk-in clinic.
The time you are given is an estimate, so expect to wait an average of 1 hour in the walk-in clinic waiting room. This may seem a long time at first glance, but it’s much shorter than if you had no appointment at all, as waiting times often exceed 5-6 hours.
In Quebec, you can use the government system called Rendez-Vous Santé Québec (RVSQ) to reserve a space in a walk-in clinic. Some walk-in clinics near you may use a system other than the government system. Doctr’s care coordination service can take care of making an appointment for you, saving you time and guaranteeing you a quick consultation with a doctor.
